Beauty blender is a very popular gadget that many women use to apply their makeup. Its appearance resembles an egg, however, there are different shapes of these gadgets available on the market. All you have to do is match the makeup sponge to suit your needs, and your makeup will be perfect, long-lasting and always on fleek.
What is a beauty blender?
Beauty blender is a small-sized sponge that is used for makeup application. This gadget was created by the Hollywood makeup artist Rea Ann in 2002. Beauty blender does not have sharp edges, but a specially designed tip that will be able to reach some face spots (corners of the eyes, lips and skin on the nose). What’s more, thanks to the sponge, you can achieve a different degree of coverage and natural makeup effect.
The beauty blender sponge is very soft and flexible, it has a porous structure. Thanks to this feature, it retains water, does not contain latex, has no fragrance and is hypoallergenic. What’s more, it can be easily washed. Interestingly, the beauty blender is used not only for applying the foundation, but also for applying creams, blushes and concealers.
Beauty blender – types
We can distinguish several types of beauty blenders. But girls who do the makeup only on themselves will be using only a few of them. The most popular types of beauty blenders are:
- classic – has sizes 3.5 to 5.5 cm and weighs about 4 grams. The first gadgets of this kind were pink; with time, different shades appeared. Beauty blender is mainly used for applying the foundation;
- beauty blusher – is slightly smaller than the classic sponge, and is mainly used for applying blush, creams or light powders. Beauty blusher has a grey colour, which facilitates blending shades of cosmetics;
- black and white beauty blender – the first one is intended for applying self-tanner, the second – for applying colourless cosmetics (creams or serums);
- micromini beauty blender – a miniature of the classic beauty blender. The small size guarantees the accuracy of the application and is therefore used for hard to reach areas: the corners of the eyes, lips, the wings of the nose and the eyelid;
- blotterazzi sponge – collects excess sebum, refreshes makeup.
How to use a beauty blender?
Before the first application, wet the beauty blender, then squeeze out excess water and wipe with a paper towel. Then apply the cosmetic and apply to the skin with gentle pressure; do not rub the foundation on the skin. It is equally important to keep the beauty blender clean. To wash the sponge, it is best to use ordinary soap or a hair shampoo, a disinfectant and allow the tool to air-dry. Thanks to such care, beauty blenders can serve you up to 4 months.
