Every single day your feet bear the weight of your body. They also crumple in uncomfortable shoes, sweat in socks and swell of heat. As a result, your feet dry out and their delicate skin flakes off and cracks. How to take proper care of your feet and prepare a homemade foot scrub? How to care for your feet?
If your feet are excessively dry and the skin cracks, use some foot creams at least once a day. You can use ready-made masks or some ointments with vitamins A and E. At least once a week you should prepare a bath in lukewarm water with the addition of olive oil and exfoliate the skin. For this purpose you can use homemade or ready-made products with abrasive particles. Thicker body parts need a bit stronger exfoliation, those more delicate ones should be dently treated.
After the scrub, moisturise your feet and put on cotton, thin socks. Do it regularly – at least once a week – until you notice that the condition of your feet improved.
How to make homemade foot scrub?
1. Coffee foot scrub – recipe
- 2 tablespoons of ground coffee,
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil,
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
Instructions: pour ground coffee into a bowl. Add olive oil and juice, then stir everything thoroughly. Apply the paste on wet feet, preferably after a warm bath. Massage the skin gently – the heels should be rubbed a bit harder. After a few minutes, rinse your feet with water.
2. Crushed walnut shell scrub – recipe
- 1 tablespoon of eucerin,
- 3 teaspoons of ground walnut shells.
Instructions: Crush the walnut shells, then pour into a bowl, add eucerin and mix thoroughly. Apply to washed and dried feet in circular motions. Finally, rinse your feet with lukewarm water.
3. Sugar foot scrub – recipe
- 2 tablespoons of flaxseed pulp,
- 1 tablespoon of white sugar.
Instructions: mix all ingredients and rub into the skin of the feet. If the scrub is too delicate, replace the white sugar with brown sugar or add less flaxseed. You can also use flaxseed pulp as a moisturising mask. In such situation, you should apply the mask, wrap your feet with foil, put on socks and leave for about 30 minutes. After this time, rinse your feet with lukewarm water.
4. Salt foot scrub – recipe
- 2 tablespoons of salt,
- 1 heaped tablespoon of coconut oil or shea butter,
- 2 drops of peppermint oil.
Instructions: Pour salt into a bowl and add coconut oil or shea butter. Add two drops of peppermint oil that will leave a pleasant, fresh feeling on the skin. Mix all ingredients, apply to your feet and then wash with water. If your feet are too greasy, clean it with glycerine soap.
Can everyone use scrubs?
You should not use scrubs in case of skin irritation or allergy to one of the ingredients. They are not recommended also when you have some wounds on your feet or some cracks on the skin.
