BB cream is derived from Asia, where women have been using this cosmetic since the 1980s. Few people know that BB cream was invented in Germany; it’s hard to believe because it was popularized by Asian girls. Initially BB cream was an elite cosmetic, which was used only by Korean actresses, but it has changed. Today, women from all over the world used it on a daily basis.

Asian girls are known for their flawless complexion, which is why in recent years, European and American cosmetic companies have been eager to use the BB cream formula. Currently, almost every brand has its own version of this cosmetic in its offer.

The abbreviation “BB” derives from the names “Blemish Balm”, “Beauty Balm” or “Blemish Base”. They all refer to the versatile properties of this cosmetic, which combines the effects of a foundation, a moisturizing cream, and a concealer. Many of the original BB creams contain additional sunblock because Asian girls prefer staying away from the sun. This trend has been imitated by some European BB cream producers as well.

BB cream replaces several different cosmetics, which is its greatest asset. Followers of this cosmetic use it instead of a cream, concealer, foundation primer and the foundation itself.

BB creams primarily moisturize, mattify and unify the complexion, and some of them additionally brighten it. The original BB creams contain silicones that smooth out the skin and mask minor scars, especially post-acne scars.

BB cream – who is it intended for?

BB cream is mainly intended for teens because the heavy foundation is not recommended for their delicate, young skin. Because this cosmetic copes with many imperfections, and at the same time does not overload the skin, older women can also use it. However, if you have a problematic complexion, only CC cream will respond to your needs.

CC cream – properties

CC creams are considered an improved version of BB creams because, like the latter, they nourish and moisturize the complexion, but provide fuller coverage.

The abbreviation “CC” stands for the names “Color Control Cream”, “Color and Care” or “Color and Correct”. All these expressions refer to the action of the cosmetic, which consists in concealing imperfections and improving the condition of the complexion.

CC cream – who is it intended for?

The CC cream will not respond to the needs of women who have serious skin problems such as deep scars, severe skin discoloration or inflammation. These types of imperfections require special treatment, and there is no way to mask them.

BB cream and CC cream – similarities and differences

The CC cream is based on the BB cream formula but is designed for more problematic skin. The effect of the CC cream, like BB, is based on the combination of a corrector and the foundation, with the latter exhibiting stronger concealing properties. The CC cream is aimed primarily at mattifying severe skin changes such as acne, acne scars, spider veins, dilated capillaries and redness, while its healing properties are secondary. BB creams are the complete opposite. Their main task is to accelerate the regeneration of irritated skin. Therefore, the difference is easy to indicate: the CC cream conceals better than a BB cream and additionally brightens the skin, but on the other hand it does not support the treatment of lesions as effectively as a BB cream, which antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects are unarguable.

DD cream – properties

The abbreviation “DD” means “Dynamic Do-All”. DD Cream combines the effects of BB and CC creams, and additionally contains anti-wrinkle ingredients. For this reason, it combats the signs of skin aging and masks fine wrinkles.

DD cream is designed to provide even better care and concealing effects than its predecessors, as well as moisturizing the skin of the face. Nevertheless, it should remain a cosmetic with a light consistency.

DD cream – who is it intended for?

DD creams have higher conditioning properties than BB and CC creams. Their main distinguishing feature is the target group – DD creams are intended for women with mature and demanding skin. Therefore, this cosmetic’s properties that are not only concealing, but also anti-wrinkle and brightening agents, and are aimed at preventing the processes of skin aging and relieving the signs of fatigue.

BB cream, CC cream, and DD cream – how do they differ from each other?

In hindsight, it can be concluded that BB creams have proved themselves mainly in the group of teenagers and women, who do not require full coverage or special care properties from the foundation. The CC cream provides coverage for women with problematic and discolored skin. In turn, DD cream is designed to increase the conditioning effect and satisfy the needs of mature skin.
