Since the field of cosmetology began to develop, many cosmetics with natural ingredients found their way to the stores. Does this mean that traditional care and make-up products will no longer be used? No way! However, many people consider natural cosmetics as much better than traditional ones. Are they right? Let’s check it.

What are natural cosmetics?

Natural cosmetics contain substances of vegetable origin and have specialized certificates. They must consist of 95% vegetable oils, floral extracts or herbs. The product should meet the following requirements:

  • be vegan;
  • lack emulsifiers, preservatives, dyes and fragrances;
  • it cannot be tested on animals;
  • must include the information about ingredients.

Are natural cosmetics better?

Many factors prove that it is actually the case. In traditional products there are substances that cause irritation, clog pores, cause acne, dry skin and hair. Undesirable effects include: headaches, skin inflammation, acne, allergies. In particular, pay attention to the addition of: aluminium heavy metals, petroleum derivatives.

Which ingredients should be avoided?

In fact, it is very difficult to completely avoid potentially dangerous ingredients. However, you can limit the time you keep them on your skin. In particular, avoid SLS and SLES, silicones, formaldehydes, chemical UV filters, fragrances and synthetically produced dyes, paraffins, lanolin, parabens and preservatives.

Natural cosmetics – what you should remember?

Because natural products don’t contain any preservatives, their shelf life is very short. Such cosmetics should also be stored in appropriate conditions (in a dark, cold and dry place). During application, don’t touch them with dirty hands as it can lead to the multiplication of bacteria.
